Jacob's love for her, so she said: "I want to work for you seven years for Rachel, the younger son was." (Genesis 29:18)

Have you ever met someone in a meeting and something sparks flying at the time? You pay attention to not only color but also the man's eyes sparkle in his eye that seems to invite you to explore that person deeper. That is what happened between Jacob and Rachel. Genesis 29:17 says that Rachel is so captivating in appearance and also beautiful. Jacob fell in love so deep on Rachel until he was willing to work for the girl's father for seven years just to marry her.

If you're faced with a situation of Jacob, would you work for seven years for the one you love? Just think back to what you do seven years ago. Do you work at the same job as you work today? Attending the same church? Gathered by the same person?. Our lives changed a lot over the last seven years, is not it?

Imagine what Rachel must feel. He found the man she wanted to marry and then have to be around him often during the next seven years without being able to marry. He must have struggled with doubts about whether they will marry. Then, when the time finally came, he might have suffered devastation when he discovered that his father has been deceiving the man she loved with a married man dreams of his own sister, Lea.

What Rachel may not understand at the time was that God ultimately brings the Savior to the world through the descendants of blood between Jacob and Leah. Jesus is the offspring of the marriage based on lies - at least on a global level - but God has bigger plans. Rachel Jacob eventually married in God's best time.

God authored the events in our life to serve His glory. Like Rachel, we do not know when the Lord for our future, but we can believe that just as God knows what He did for Rachel, she also knew what He did for our lives.
