Symbols are very powerful communication tool. The companies spend huge amounts of money just to find a logo that fit to represent all of his company to the public. The core of the symbol is "Look at this logo, and remember us."

If that symbol is very important, why followers of Jesus chose the cross to represent themselves? Why choose a symbol that means torture? Why choose a symbol associated with the death of their leader?

Outside there are still many other symbols, which means better than "death." Then why should the cross? What is the significance of Jesus' death?

What Crime That Created Jesus?

At the time of Jesus' life, he was so popular. Large collection of people always follow him to see and hear Him. But this time, the religious leaders see it as a threat. Jesus made a 'new rule' other than that they trust, such rules should not be employed in Jesus violated the Sabbath. Jesus himself calls them hypocrites. And of course they hate him because of it.

Many ideas and statements of Jesus that is very revolutionary. But one thing is most important is when Jesus said that He is God. This immediately makes the leaders of that time wanted to kill him. From their perspective, Jesus has made a biggest sin, that is blasphemy.

Rome was in power in Israel at that time that Jesus himself was brought to the court of Rome. Pontius Pilate who sentenced him to death upon himself at the time, do it just to keep people quiet and calm. Though he himself knows that there is no mistake that he found in Jesus. "I did not find any fault in this man", he said.

What Jesus said about His death?

The situation at that time seemed to indicate that he is just ordinary people who break the law and must accept the consequences. Though his death has he told himself in the presence of His disciples, long before it actually happens. He said: "Now we go to Jerusalem and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will fell him the death penalty. And they will hand him over to nations that do not know God, and He will mock, mock, spat upon, beaten and killed, and after three days rise again ".

Jesus declared that his death meant for a specific purpose. "Just as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many", the book of Matthew censure.

What Jesus Do About His Death?

If Jesus was the victim of circumstances, he certainly will do something about his death. But none of what Jesus did to stop the process of his death. He did not appeal, or flee from the accusations. He actually said "No man taketh it (life) from me, but I lay it down of my own."

He could have ordered the angels to come and save him. But no. He remained silent even though beaten and scourged. But why should the dead He reached his goal? Can not he stay alive? Is not to live She can do more miracles?

The identity of Jesus is the key

The death of Jesus answered the question of who He is and why He came.

Jesus did not come by accident. Scriptures have recorded himself as the central character. Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, a savior had been promised in the scriptures. Prophecy is very specific both about the birth, death, and His life. Book of Isaiah also prophesied that Jesus would be betrayed by his own friend for 30 pieces of silver, and the hands and feet will be nailed.

Jesus died like that to fulfill the prophecy of Himself. He became the Redeemer. Now we need to know, He redeemed us from what?

So, What Core Death of Jesus?

He had to die is the reason He came into the world.

At the beginning of his teaching, John has seen him and said "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world".

The Jews at that time knew perfectly well what "the lamb who takes away sin." Their lifetime, they have to offer animals to God for their sins forgiven. Animals (usually sheep) are blameless must be brought before the priest. Then they laid hands on the head of the animal as a sign of transferring their sins over the animal. Then the animal was sacrificed.

The punishment of sin is death. The death of the animal victim must occur for sins erased. This is the law of life-changing lives. The innocent and blameless to be killed so that the guilty can be free. And this is the meaning of John's statement to Jesus. Jesus is the lamb of God who was sacrificed to atone for the sins of mankind.

Jesus Is Victim Once For Over-length From God

With animal sacrifice, a priest and a sinner is a ritual to pay for sin. But the death of Jesus is only for once and for ever. When Jesus cried out on the cross "It is finished", meaning that it is complete. Jesus who is God himself must sacrifice. A victim who is irreplaceable. Full and complete human sins He paid the price, on the cross.

When Jesus on the cross, the holy book notes that at 12 noon to 3 pm where the sun should be shining, the sky suddenly became dark as midnight.

800 years before this happened, the prophet Amos had prophesied this event. "On that day would happen," declares the Lord GOD, "I'll turn off the sun during the day and make the earth dark on a sunny day."

Luke recorded "When that day was about twelve hours, and darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour." Darkness it shows the court of God upon man's sin upon the person of Jesus. As it is written, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; rewards that bring us salvation inflicted upon Him and by His stripes we are healed". As happened in the animal victims, all men sin borne by Him on the cross, so the sky turned dark terangpun.

And He did it for us. For the remission of sins that becomes possible. And when the price of sin had been fully paid, he rose from the dead.

How to Understand About This

What would Jesus do for us can be described in the story of two younger sisters. The younger brother is a member of the gangsters who like to fight. On one night, he killed an opponent and ran home. He changed clothes with clean clothes, and go again. The length of a bloody shirt he left at home. Soon her brother came home, finding the bloody clothes. When he saw the clothes and hold them, the police came and arrested the brother. With a willing heart, knowing that an act of his brother, the brother eventually imprisoned and sentenced to death on charges of murder. Secretly, the younger brother witnessed the sacrifice of his brother, instead of all the mistakes.

Sometime later he could not stand. He ran to the police station and confessed all his actions. But police told her to go home because his brother's death has been satisfying the applicable law.

This is what God did for us. To take away our sins, he took over the penalty that should we suffer. This is the reason he had come into the world. This difference in the death of Jesus from the others.

Three Ways To Respond

There are three options for our response to the death of Jesus.

The first is people who see it with all my heart. They admit mistakes and sins and make a decision to start a clean start with Jesus. They believe in the promise of God that all sins and they have borne wrong and the price has been fully paid by Jesus, and they are free!

Second are those who admire the action but still living in sin, and continue to delay taking a decision.

Third are those who do not care. They do not bother with the relationship between God and man recovered. They chose to find their own way to erase their sins.

Unfortunately, whatever your decision, the rules remain the same forgiveness of sins, that is through sacrifice. If you want to receive pengobanan Jesus on the cross to atone for your sins, you will receive forgiveness and restoration experience with God. If not, the wages of sin is still only one, namely death forever.

Which do you prefer?
